Filed Under (Investor News) by Admin on 22-07-2009
July 22, 2009: Recently we learnt a lesson about withdrawing money after depositing a check for a large amount. Please read on to learn the drama as it unfolded. We hope that our readers can benefit from this experience of ours and avoid paying unnecessary fees.
Day 1 - We went to a physical branch of a bank and deposited a check in the middle of a week.
Day 4 - After 3 business days when we accessed our account online, its register showed that the deposited check ’s amount had been credited to our account. More importantly, the available balance register was also incremented to include the check amount.

Filed Under (Finance Help) by Admin on 20-07-2009
The price of FCPO (Crude Palm Oil Futures on Bursa Malaysia) continues to fall as I have expected in the past one month but fell lower than expected. There is a technical support level between the price range of between RM2,100 and RM2,200 per metric ton but the FCPO went as low as RM1,990 from RM 2,400. The price rebounded and is now at RM2,020. However, the market did rebound temporarily from

New Money Rules for Financial Security - #5. Home Equity
Filed Under (Investor News) by Admin on 20-07-2009
Until recently it was almost always assumed that renting meant throwing away money. The golden money rule was to build home equity since real estate “always” appreciated. Thanks to the sub prime mortgage fiasco and the recession that emanated from it, the real estate bubble finally burst with a big impact.

How to Save Money This Year?
Filed Under (Investor News) by Admin on 16-07-2009
This year is a particularly tough one in perspective of the massive job losses and a shrinking U.S. economy. We are feeling the pinch since we got laid off. An immense aid for our survival has been the presence of an emergency fund. In fact we feel that it is one of the most important practical personal finance ideas that we implemented till date. So if you have not started saving for an emergency fund, we urge you to get started on one at the earliest.
There are three main areas: rent, transportation and food, where we feel that there is still some room to further trim our expenses. We are planning to relocate to a cheaper area (perhaps another state) to cut down on our annual rental costs. If you have skills for home maintenance then you can live rent free too :).

July 14, 2009: We all need to keep a tab on our credit and identity. Checking our credit report at regular intervals is a nice way to keep an eye on the state of our credit card accounts. It also helps in early detection of suspicious activity.
Usually we recourse to a couple of options for procuring our credit reports. Either we buy them. Or we participate in some offer which offers a valid credit report FREE if we try some service for a month (where we can cancel the service within 30 days of activation without any charges).

New Money Rules for Financial Security - #4. Handling Debt
Filed Under (Investor News) by Admin on 13-07-2009
The past decade saw the boom of the “power of leveraging” - a fancy name for debt. Until recently, most Americans put their purchases on their credit cards and personal savings fell to nearly zero. Credit was easy, and people used it to build wealth. Can building wealth with debt be a money rule?

Speculations in the property market that it may rise because of recent buying activities. However, the prices of property stocks have been stagnant with a slight bearish movement for the past one month. Property stocks have been on a good bullish rally from March. The FT Real Estate Index jumped more than 80% from the level in March to June. I guess that the prices of properties stocks have gone
